The oldest great families of High Halleck are descended from noble houses that brought their followers from another world. Some of High Halleck’s great families, however, were founded either by adventurers who gathered followers to themselves or by younger sons of great families who settled new valleys. A few of the great families intermarried with members of the Old Race or other cultures.
