Orel of Estindale wanders through the Waste looking for anything useful but after the last sand storm what he needs is water. He decides he should follow an old riverbed to try and find the source. What he finds is an ancient barren city still being protected by the Lady Tarna. He is almost beguiled by her and just escapes with his life. After thinking very hard about what just happened he decides he must return and defeat the Dark Power and return water to the land.

Timeline Points:

  1. p186. A decade after the Hounds of Alizon had demolished Orel of Estindale's home in High Hallack.
  2. p196. "Centuries ago … my forefathers reached this world." "…they were not of the same stock as other Dalesmen. In truth, they were merely a small tribe of bloody-minded barbarians."
